Data
This data breaks down spring, fall and total harvest numbers by:
- wildlife management unit (WMU)
- calendar year
Harvest numbers are based on mandatory reports received from successful turkey licence holders. These are absolute numbers and are not statistically projected as with the bear, deer, and moose hunting activity and harvest estimates. Missing values represent no open season.

Column | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
WMU | Text |
The administrative coverage areas that serve as a land base for wildlife monitoring and management. Indicate the areas of Ontario where hunting open seasons and harvest quotas may apply. Boundaries are regulated under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act - Ontario Regulation 663/98, Part 6 as amended. |
Year | Text |
Calendar year. Within each calendar year hunting open seasons are defined for each Wildlife Management Unit. |
Spring Harvest | Numeric |
Number of wild turkeys reported harvested (2008-2018) or estimated to have been harvested (2019 and beyond) during the spring season. From 2008-2018 harvest numbers are based on mandatory reports received from successful turkey licence holders and are absolute numbers. Beginning in 2019 all turkey licence holders had a mandatory reporting obligation, so harvest numbers are statistically projected like bear, deer, and moose. The projected harvest numbers are likely to be more accurate estimates of harvest than the absolute values. |
Fall Harvest | Text |
Number of wild turkeys reported harvested (2008-2018) or estimated to have been harvested (2019 and beyond) during the fall season. |
Total Harvest | Numeric |
Total number of wild turkeys reported harvested (2008-2018) or estimated to have been harvested (2019 and beyond) in the spring and fall seasons combined. Total Harvest was calculated by adding together the Spring Harvest and Fall Harvest. |
