This dataset contains comparative data, primarily derived from Statistics Canada’s 2011 National Household Survey and the 2011 Census, to help communities assess their ability to attract and retain newcomers.

It was compiled to be used as a tool for rural communities in assessing their relative attractiveness to newcomers and youth. It is to be used to support communities in assessing where they stand, and where they may have opportunities or challenges that need addressing. The data has been made public so that communities of all sizes/capacities can have access to this information that benchmarks their community against others.

This dataset contains eight themes: economy, housing, health, innovation, amenities, education, society and youth.

This dataset is no longer collected or maintained. Information and data held by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for this record is historical.
