Type 6 motor vehicle inspection stations

A type 6 motor vehicle inspection station (MVIS) is a collision and auto repair shop that:

  • is licensed by the Ministry of Transportation to inspect only salvage vehicles

  • employs registered and certified mechanics who are able to assess the structural integrity of a vehicle

  • can certify that vehicles meet minimum safety requirements
