The Ministry of Community and Social Services funds programs and services through Violence Against Women (VAW) agencies to help women and their children live free of domestic violence.

The ministry extracts data from service and financial data in submissions from VAW agencies to produce system capacity and utilization metrics. The extract contains metrics for all four VAW programs including:

  • costs per individual served
  • occupancy rate for shelters

The ministry calculates these metrics at the agency, regional, and provincial level. The data are taken from fourth quarter of the fiscal year.
