Police Use of Force – Individual Records, 2023

This dataset is one of the four datasets that comprise the Use of Force database. Depending on the scope of the analysis, some linkage between datasets may be required. This particular dataset provides information about the individuals in respect of whom a Police Use of Force Report is completed. Some variables within this dataset were either too granular or considered sensitive (open-text variables), therefore presenting an increased risk of re-identification either on their own or when combined with other publicly available information. These variables have been generalized or removed to ensure privacy. Please refer to the data dictionary for more details. This dataset include all 2023 reports that were submitted to the ministry by July 26, 2024. The dataset follow the UTF-8 encoding standard.
