Police Use of Force – Weapon Records, 2023

This dataset is one of the four datasets that comprise the Use of Force database. Depending on the scope of the analysis, some linkage between datasets may be required. This particular dataset provides information about the weapon(s) that individuals in respect of whom a Police Use of Force Report is completed was perceived/believed to have or have access to. To reduce the risk of re-identification, one variable that contained open text information on other types of weapons used was removed from the dataset. This dataset include all 2023 reports that were submitted to the ministry by July 26, 2024. The dataset follow the UTF-8 encoding standard.
