Statement of operations: 2023-2024
The Public Accounts of Ontario is a major accountability document which presents the financial statements of the Province.
The Public Accounts includes the Ontario government’s annual report for the fiscal year. The Annual Report presents the Ontario government’s financial results and its progress on the government’s priorities, as well as its activities and indicators of financial position for the fiscal year. It compares the actual financial results to the Budget plan and explains major differences. The Annual Report also outlines financial trends over the past several years and reports on performance in key sectors.
Financial indicators
The Public Accounts’ financial indicators help to assess the financial health of the Ontario government. You can gauge how economic and other events impact the Ontario government’s financial health by using the indicators’ levels and trends. These indicators can also show how the government has responded.
The Financial Administration Act requires the preparation of the Public Accounts for each fiscal year. The Public Accounts of Ontario are subject to the Ontario.ca Terms of use. Differences between numbers are due to rounding.
