Incident Type

The Incident Type dataset contains all the incident types and subtypes that were selected for each Inmate Incident Report (IIR) in the Use of Force Incidents dataset. There are 15 incident types and up to three levels of subtypes, based on the selected responses. When respondents select an incident type, a set of options (i.e., subtypes) are presented to collect more detail about the incident. An incident may fall into more than one type and/or subtype. All incidents in the dataset included “use of force” as one incident type. Where a use of force incident included another incident type (e.g., threat), the details of all incident types and subtypes are included.
