Deposit return program performance report

Started in February 2007, the deposit return program for empty wine and spirits containers helps reduce landfill waste and complements municipal blue box programs. A biweekly report tracks the program's performance, including the number of containers sold and returned for deposit refund provincewide. Containers are differentiated based on their size and packaging material (glass, plastic, aluminum, bag-in-box etc.). The data is used to calculate an overall percentage return rate and return rates for each container type and size. Beer containers that are not part of The Beer Store's container return program are also included.
