FIshnet 3 Inland Lake Index Netting Data

Data restricted

This data is not and will not be made available. The data was reviewed and cannot be released to the public because of reasons outlined by the Digital and Data Directive.

Restriction: Security - The dataset contains locational and population details on provincially tracked species and species at risk and is classified as medium sensitive data.

FISHNET 3.0 (FN3) was a data management tool used to:

  • plan and create index fishing surveys
  • enter field and lab data
  • store field data in a central repository
  • analyze data
  • report survey results

FN3 was decommissioned in March 2019. This dataset includes index netting surveys that were previously stored in the FN3 application. The data adheres to the established survey standards for assessing the status of fish populations, such as End of Spring Trap Netting (ESTN), Fall Walleye Index Netting (FWIN), Nearshore Community Index Netting (NSCIN) and Spring Littoral Index Netting (SLIN). These standards govern the type, location, season, gear and fishing technique used. This dataset is the authoritative source for index netting survey data previously stored and managed in FN3.

This dataset is classified as medium sensitive because it includes provincially tracked species data. Sensitive data is subject to licensing and approvals. You can request this data by contacting NRIU@ontario.ca.
