In 2016, the Opioid Overdose Surveillance Project started with the main objective being to report overdoses and deaths associated with opiate use/misuse in Ontario. The need to better understand and address the opioid addiction and the incidence of morbidity and mortality associated with opioid use/misuse is a provincial priority.
