Affordable rents are calculated based on household income for the second to sixth decile. Affordability is defined as rent levels that do not exceed 30% of the households' gross income. The purpose is to show the rent level that is affordable to households at various income levels. Each decile represents 10% of households. The deciles are organized by income level where the first decile is the lowest 10% of households with the lowest income and the tenth decile is the top 10% of households with the highest income. This is calculated for each of the 47 Service Manager Areas.
