This dataset contains data the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs collects as part of its food safety surveillance program. Data includes results of testing tissue samples collected under the direction of a Veterinary Scientist for the purposes of monitoring antimicrobial residues and/or for diagnosing disease.

  • Samples of diaphragm and kidney tissues are collected and sent for testing for antimicrobial (drug) residues in food animals. Results obtained are evaluated against Health Canada's established guidelines.
  • Tissues/specimens are collected from the carcasses of food animals for histopathologic testing to confirm/rule-out a diagnosis/disposition; includes Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie.
